Ritlop (nee Maric) Verona

1941 - 2026

Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on August 19 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of eighty-five.

Verona Ritlop was born on January 1st, 1941, in the village of Odranci near Murska Sobota, in what was then Yugoslavia and is now Slovenia.

She married Matija Ritlop in 1964, and they lived in Saint-Hubert for fifty years before relocating to Saint-Lambert. Verona is survived by her husband Matija; her children Mike (Justine) and Frank (Gina); her grandson John; her brother Franc (Marija), of Slovenia; her sister-in-law Marta (late Mirko), from Montreal, along with many beloved relatives and friends.

Verona led a simple, faith-filled life that centered on her family and on her friends in the Slovenian community.

She was a devoted parishioner of St. Vladimir Slovenian Parish and a proud member of the choir. Singing not only brought her tremendous joy, it also allowed her to strengthen her faith and her friendships.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, August 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (a prayer service to be held at 2:30 p.m.) at
