In cherished memory of our loved one, Maria Horvat was born on December 31, 1957, in Linz, Austria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the age of sixty-eight, in Montreal (Quebec). Maria will be forever treasured and missed deeply by her dear parents, late Jozef Godina and Marija Horvat Godina, her loving daughter Jennifer, her brothers Joseph (Johanne), Frank (Carole), and Emil (Maria), her niece Samantha, her nephews Shawn (Sophia), Jeff (Paige), Hunter, and Avery as well as many other relatives and friends.
Maria enjoyed working as a nursing assistant, starting in her late teen years, taking care of the elderly. Raising her beautiful daughter and putting all of her love and care into her family was her pride and joy. Always a great listener, Maria made others feel better no matter what the situation was. She was helpful, positive, and never gave up. Maria wanted peace and love for everyone.
Maria loved to read, do crosswords, and enjoyed nature. The welfare of animals, children, and the vulnerable citizens of our society were held very close to her heart.
Our dearest Maria, we will remember you forever, your memory is a blessing, you will always live in our hearts eternally.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, January 15, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (prayer service to be held at 2 p.m.) at: J.A. Guilbault Funeral Home Inc., 5359 St. Michel Blvd. (below Masson), Montreal, 514 721-4925.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Vladimir Slovenian Parish, 3470 St. Joseph Blvd. East, Montreal
