Ellement, Leo Denis

1931 – 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Leo Denis Ellement, on April 30, at the age of ninety-four. Leo was born on December 15, 1931 in Douglastown, Gaspe. He was the son of Baseline White and Hubert Ellement and brother to five siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Worobec, and her son Marc Chaussé. Predeceased by his cherished son Danny (1961-1982), he also leaves to mourn his beloved son Gary and his former wife Ellen White as well as many other relatives and friends.

Remembered as a hard worker, he began his career with the CNR railway from 1946 to 1949.  In 1950, he left Gaspe for Northern Ontario to work as a lumberjack. He later settled in Montreal and was employed at CPR Angus Shops from 1951 to 1958.  From there he became a dedicated employee for Harrison Fabrics, serving as a valued lead in the installation department until his retirement in 1984.  In retirement, he devoted himself to one of the things he loved most - helping others. He took great joy in doing odd jobs and repairs for customers he proudly called friends. He lived a life marked by kindness, dedication and curiosity. One of his favorite sayings was ‘’Don’t worry be happy’’. Leo loved to travel and engage in interesting conversations, a friendly fun-loving man; he enjoyed good food, good laughs and good company.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday May 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the J.A. Guilbault Funeral Home Inc., 5359 Saint. Michel Blvd. (south of Masson Street), Montreal (Quebec) 514-721-4925.
